I was fortunate enough to be asked to photograph a series of portraits for the Cabramatta Street Team to document some of the kids they have assisted over the twelve years they were in operation.
This photographic collaboration contributed to the overall vision of creating a sustainable and positive day to day environment for the community.
This work embarked the kids in an artistic project for the first time, allowing them to explore the power of art to deliver a message of hope, happiness and freedom.
They were able to express their mood in the moment without being judged and with the confidence that they can be themselves.
My portrait of Fatima, one of the many vulnerable teens who have benefited from their support was selected as a finalist in the prestigious National Photographic Portrait Prize of 2014.
